Garage & Workshop Epoxy Floors in Melbourne
Heavy-duty two-pack epoxy that shrugs off hot tyres, oil and brake dust.
Full-flake epoxy garage floorGarage and workshop epoxy flooring is a heavy-duty, chemical-resistant two-pack epoxy coating applied over your concrete slab, built for home garages, sheds and trade workshops across Melbourne that cop hot tyres, oil drips and dropped tools. We offer two looks: full-flake, with coloured flakes sealed under a clear topcoat, and solid-colour, one shade with an even gloss.
Full-flake hides a lot. Oil stains, patched cracks and colour variation vanish into the speckled pattern, and the high-gloss grey full-flake garage floor in our gallery shows the depth flakes add. Solid-colour gives a crisp, showroom-style finish but shows marks sooner.
Unlike single-pack garage paint, two-pack epoxy cures by chemical reaction into a hard, bonded film that resists hot-tyre pick-up and shrugs off petrol, brake fluid, degreaser and battery acid when spills are wiped up promptly.
When you need it
- Oil, rust rings or tyre marks that no degreaser will shift.
- Dust from a bare slab blowing into the house or onto the car.
- Turning the garage into a workshop, gym or studio you can mop.
- Thin garage paint peeling in the tyre tracks.
- A shed or workshop that sees fuel, solvents and dropped steel daily.
What is included
- Slab grinding, repairs and moisture testing before any colour goes down.
- Two-pack epoxy primer and a pigmented base coat in your chosen colour.
- Flakes to full coverage, scraped back and sealed under a clear chemical-resistant topcoat.
- A second pigmented coat instead of flakes for a solid-colour floor.
- Anti-slip grit in the topcoat where you want it.
- Walls and door tracks masked, dust vacuumed, site left clean.
Our preparation and application process
Step 1: Grind and prime
Diamond grinding, repairs and moisture testing follow our concrete grinding and surface preparation page, then the slab is primed.
Step 2: Mask and protect
Walls, door tracks, the roller door seal and cabinet bases are masked so only the floor gets coated.
Step 3: Base coat
Pigmented two-pack epoxy is mixed in measured batches and rolled on at an even thickness.
Step 4: Flake and topcoat
Flakes are broadcast into the wet base coat and, once cured, scraped, vacuumed and sealed under the clear topcoat; solid-colour floors get a second coat.
Step 5: Cure and hand back
We strip the masking, vacuum, take our rubbish and explain the waiting times for foot traffic and cars.
Materials and systems
Full-flake two-pack epoxy
A pigmented base coat with coloured flakes to full coverage, sealed under a clear chemical-resistant topcoat. The most forgiving finish for a busy family garage.
Solid-colour two-pack epoxy
Two coats of heavy-duty pigmented epoxy in one uniform shade. Bright, easy to see dropped parts on, and quick to show a fresh leak.
What affects the cost
- Floor size: single garage, double, or long workshop bay.
- Slab condition: oil soak, old paint and cracks all add preparation time.
- Full-flake or solid-colour, since flake floors use more material plus a clear topcoat.
- Extras such as anti-slip grit or a coated threshold at the roller door.
- Clear-out: an empty garage is quicker to coat than one we work around.

How long it takes
A double garage typically takes two to three days on site, depending on how much prep the slab needs and the weather: grinding and priming on day one, colour and flakes on day two, scrape-back and topcoat on day three.
Foot traffic is typically fine after a day or two and cars after five to seven days, depending on temperature; full chemical resistance comes only at full cure. Parking early is how most new floors get tyre marks.
How to prepare
- Empty the garage completely, including shelving and the second fridge.
- Plan to park on the driveway or street for the job plus the curing week.
- Pick your flake blend and decide on anti-slip grit before we start.
- Keep kids and pets out until we confirm the floor is ready to walk on.

FAQ
Garage Floors: questions people ask.
How much does it cost to epoxy a garage floor?
It depends on floor size, slab condition and whether you choose full-flake or solid-colour. Painted or oil-soaked concrete needs more grinding and flake uses more material. We measure up and send a free, no-obligation quote.
How long does it take to epoxy a garage floor?
Typically two to three days on site for a double garage, then a cure period before you drive on it. Foot traffic is usually fine after a day or two and cars after about a week, depending on temperature.
Will hot tyres lift an epoxy garage floor?
Not when two-pack epoxy is applied over properly ground concrete. Pick-up happens when a thin, soft coating sticks to a warm tyre harder than to the slab, the usual failure of single-pack paint. Grinding, a penetrating primer and full cure prevent it.
Should I choose full-flake or solid colour?
Full-flake to hide stains, dust and imperfections; solid colour for a bright, uniform surface if you can live with visible marks. Flake forgives a family garage; solid colour suits a workshop where spotting a leak matters.
How do I clean an epoxy garage floor?
Sweep or vacuum, then mop with warm water and mild detergent. Wipe up petrol, brake fluid and battery acid promptly, and avoid citrus strippers or harsh solvents that dull the gloss.
